Integrating Mother Teresa into English Academic Writing (EAW3): A Lesson in Compassion
As part of our English Academic Writing (EAW3) course, students had the opportunity to explore the life of Mother Teresa through the movie Mother Teresa of Calcutta. Students watched, analyzed, and reflected on the life of Mother Teresa, gaining valuable insights into how one person’s dedication to humanity can change the world. This film analysis not only encouraged critical thinking but also sparked discussions about the importance of empathy and social responsibility.
In addition to film analysis, students engaged in written assignments that connected the themes of the movie to real-world applications. This innovative approach integrated a powerful narrative of compassion, selflessness, and the impact of small acts of kindness into the academic curriculum.
