BA in Elementary Education - Mathematics and Science 

The Elementary Education programme at Arab Open University provides students with appropriate educational and professional preparation, enabling them to perform effectively at all levels of elementary education. The programme aims to prepare qualified teachers in both theory and methodology while developing strong knowledge of the subject matter taught at the elementary level.

The Mathematics and Science track enables students to develop in-depth knowledge of mathematics, science, and related fields, while acquiring the pedagogical knowledge and practical skills required to teach these subjects effectively at the elementary level. Through a combination of subject-specific and education courses, students develop their analytical and problem-solving skills, subject-matter expertise, teaching competencies, and understanding of how children learn mathematical and scientific concepts.

Our degree enables future teachers to become mentors and inspiring role models who demonstrate ethical and professional practice. Moreover, students will acquire a comprehensive understanding of learning, instruction, and assessment. They will be able to communicate professionally with their students, enhance their performance, design effective and supportive learning environments, employ diverse teaching approaches, encourage inquiry, critical thinking, and problem-solving, and implement the latest technological tools in mathematics and science education.

Courses are delivered in English and Arabic, as appropriate to the course and area of specialization, providing students with the linguistic, academic, and professional preparation needed to succeed as mathematics and science teachers in elementary education.

General Admission Requirements​ 

To be admitted in the programme the applicant should have a general secondary school certificate or or Technical Baccalaureate Certificate (BT3), on condition that such students enroll in the field of specialization relevant to the technical track as  determined by the Lebanese Ministry of Higher Education​​

Programme Duration

The minimum number of semesters for a Bachelor degree is Eight regular semesters

The maximum number of semesters for a Bachelor degree is twenty-four semesters (twelve academic years) excluding summers.​

Method of Delivery

The method of teaching for the programme is full time teaching/ blended learning.

Lectures' attendance is mandatory at least once a week (or twice for some courses) for each registered course. Tutorials are offered from 8:00am to 9:00pm and can be scheduled into 1 or 2 days per week to accommodate working students.​
