Course Description: This course is the second in a series designed to teach students to understand and use English at the university level. Students are expected to read different texts and medium-length articles, and listen to and watch expository videos, including narrative and descriptive scenarios. An important aspect of this course is preparing students to write a short opinion essay by introducing the key phases of the writing process, starting from building a proper sentence structure to using language appropriately and effectively. The course is a building block in language instruction, as students later excel in paragraph organization and style in EAW3. The course approximates an IELTS Exit Level of 5.0, a TOEFL paper score of 450-526, and a Common European Framework Level of B1.
